UTH Which is a good one?

Hello,

I have not visited this forum in a long time but I am selling all my leopard geckos and I have a friend interested in getting one and he has a 20gal tank and I need to know what kind of UTH he should buy? does it need a thermostat? I have not dealt with UTH as I had rack systems with flexwatt so im debating what i should do for him, as the cheaper route as i have flexwatt still so make our own undertank heater and buy a thermostat for it or get a UTH that possibly doesnt need a thermostat. Thanks for any replies.

It's really good. I have a dimmer switch, they're not too hard to install, and they work good otherwise you need a thermostat or a rheostat.
I've been looking for the same thing.

I have the ZooMed UTH that was linked to earlier and so far so good. The Exo Terra UTH is a few dollars cheaper at a different pet store around me. UTHs don't regulate temperatures so you'll need a dimmer to plug the UTH in or a thermostat. I use HydroFarm's thermostat. It was $26 off of Amazon.

I've always stuck with zoomed's.

I use zoomeds but they tend to fall off.
I have one exoterra and its very flat and hasnt budged. I would by that one again before I bought another zoomed.

I've been using Zoomeds because that's what is available in the stores, but like Katie said, they do tend to fall off. The dubias are in a tank that came with a Four Paws UTH, and so far so good with that one, but the outer layer of plastic is starting to separate a little near the cord. There's no telling how old that one is, I bought it at a yard sale and had the tank here unused for over a year. But it does stick really well.

I like Zoomed, but I've been preferring Zoomed's Heat cable. Just attach it with some heat tape & bam! All done!
