Someone told ne that UV light on top of a geckos tank will hurt its eye sight.
So now I wanted to know from the experts if this is true.

Thanks in advance :)

light can hurt anythings eyes if to close..
There have been people that always use UVB there are a few threads..
yhere is NO adverse effects to this.. unless they are albino. and even still i dont know if there is any proof that it is bad for them.

Ive heard of a few studies done on bearded dragons, not leos.

I assume the same eye problems could happen, maybe worse, especially because they are nocturnal. But I dont know myself, so I avoid UVB.

Leopard geckos are not "nocturnal" they are Crepuscular animals. which means they are primarily active during twilight hours. (dawn/dusk).
UVB and vitamin D3 is necessary for the conversion of calcium otherwise all calcium intake will just pass right out again. However UVB bulb in your leo viv should never be over 2%UVB any higher can and will blister the skin and damage vision (just like us).
Leopard geckos in the wild do hide away from the sun but UVB rays from the sun do penetrate down through the ground into their burrows, meaning they will always be getting a small amount of natural UVB from the sun for a large proportion of the day.
