UVB lighting questions for leopard gecko

I wanted to set up UVB/UVA lighting for a leopard gecko. My enclosure is 24" long, 18" wide, and 14" high. It has a screened top. I was thinking a Repti Sun 5.0 long flourescent tube that's 18" long and place it along one side. Does anyone have any experience with these lights or any others causing eye damage?? Is there a better brand to consider?? The 2.0 is very low in UVB and the 10.0 seems like way too much.

So I am not the only on looking into uvb afterall. I have a thread over in the housing section myself. I was going to go repti sun as well. A dear friend of mine has been using it for years. I just wanted to know if there was any other good brands but so far repti sun has ranked the best. I have never heard of any problems with the 5.0. It was the compact bulbs that caused a few incidents. Luckily we don't have lizards who will spend too much time with their heads under the uvb.

And I was wondering why this thread was so short! Have you got your UVB yet? Which style did you end up getting. You should post pictures. I would like to see how it looks and please also update on how your leos like it.

Leopard geckos do not require any UVB. the natural sunlight that comes in through your windows should be fine. If you do use it please you the lowest UVB output and make sure it is pretty far away from the animal as too much light stresses leo's out.
