Vacation?

I want to know hat you guys do when you go on vacation I have 3 ball pythons and 3 geckos. I went on a trip to Nashville for 2 weeks and everyones ok. My cousin took care of them at my house. Is there a easier way to do this. No one in my family likes reptiles but me and my brother and my cousin. My brothers down in Nashville and my cousin doesn't like take taking care of them. What do you guys do? I'm not going for more than a week again this summer. Thanks!

With three snakes and three geckos you could probably pack them up and take them to the sitter's house. For those of us with larger collections it's necessary to have the sitter come to the house.

Not that we really ever get to take a vacation but the most important thing to keep an eye on (in my opinion) is the electrical stuff. What if the heat tape or thermostat malfunctions, what if the power goes out, etc? No one has to touch the reptiles to make sure these things are ok.

Thats a very excellent question since i have a small collection going myself. i have 7 geckos and 2 kittens and a dog. I want to go on vacation to florida (i live in NY) and i have no clue who would take care of all my babies while i was away! so, here i sit not going on a vacation *sigh*

I have 2 friends that come and do "reptile" sitting. My incubaters go to another friends house so she is home and moniter them.

How long? I could sit at least the geckos. Just have to bring them here, help set up.

For us if we do go away (not often or long) my brother comes stays with them.

I have one of our employees who digs reptiles to look after them. He checks the incubators everyday and on the 3rd day does mealies. We will be heading to California on Tuesday for 2 weeks so he is lined up for that time. I usually offer a baby of his choice for doing it.

Ill be leaving in the winter time, probably for a couple weeks my parents live in FL my birthday is chrsitmas ever so prolly dec 23rd to jan 3rd give or take a few days

In the winter it would probably be best to take them someplace to be cared for. If they lost heat in NY winter they would suffer. It's good that you're planning ahead
