I was wondering when breeding gecko's what kind of traits do they posess? Do they co-dominant genes, recessive, dominant? I understand ball-python genetics so I was kinda wondering if there similar or the same. I am going to be getting a bunch of female leo's that are normal, and I was wondering if maybe I got some kind of morph male what kind of offspring I could be expecting. Now I'm not looking to be making like tons of money off this, mostly just for fun, but just wondering what some good options might be. Thanks for reading, and for the help!

Most leo traits are simple recessive. You could get an enigma male, which is a dominate trait, and half his offspring would be enigmas. You could also get a super snow, which is a co-dom trait, and 100% of his offspring would be snows.

so normals are all dominant traits? I thought when you breed a co-dom to a dominant you would get 50/50?

Super snows are homozygous for the co-dom trait. All their offspring receive one copy of that gene, resulting in snows.

If you want more info about leopard gecko genetics, read through the morphs and genetics section of this forum (if you haven't done so already) and then checkout the leopard gecko wiki.

For me, learning about leo genetics was very confusing after already knowing about ball python genetics. You kind of have to forget what makes what in the ball python world when thinking about what makes what in the leo world. I would probably go for a mack snow, which is a co-dom, because they are very beautiful, but not too expensive.
