Oh, I think Marly wanted to mate with my sleeve last night...he was sitting on my lap and then suddenly decided to nip and hold on to the edge of my sleeve. He held on for a couple minutes and I couldn't get him off; after he let go, he immediately licked and cleaned his behind! This is actually the second time, he did the same thing last year by holding on to my hand (near the thumb).

I have 6 males in total and Marly is the only one that'll do this. Almost everytime I hold Marly in my hand, he will stick his nose on my palm to try to pick up some scent. And because of him, I had already moved all my females to another room, and I don't hold my females untill very late at night, right before I go to bed.

Marly is almost 6 years old and hasn't been bred before; perhaps he is getting desperate at this age? :main_rolleyes: He doesn't care about other male's scent though, I pick up and hold all my male geckos MANY times a night, and I admit that I don't wash my hand in between. I know if he is sensitive to other male's scent I'd be in big trouble...:p

Here is Marly, I will continue to hold him as usual, I hope he won't do that again. Although it doesn't hurt, its pretty scary:

I don't know whats up with that, thats weird, he looks like a little stinker

Jason (syntheticreality) has a male that humps anything in his path pretty much..

If you don't have any scent on your hand maybe he is lonely, if you want some babies you know who you can puy in with your females anytime.
You can send him to me, i'd be more than happy to take him, just pm me :)

I'm thinkin he just needs some lady love :) he needs to see that there's other things out there besides your shirt or your hand!

VERY adorable guy though :)

Get that handsome boy a Girlfriend!!! :)

Not that this is the same - but I have a cat that humps me any chance he will get, he'll bite the back of my wrist and hump my arm... he's neutered but that doesn't seem to matter!

I've been told that when a dog humps you, it is telling you that he is dominant over you. Perhaps it is the same with cats. You shouldn't let it happen, unless you don't care of course.

well if the gecko is trying to prove dominance, I would NOT suggest humping him back to prove your dominance as this may lead to severe gecko injury :) With a cat, however, you may be able to prove your dominance. I know that just holding them down helps to prove your dominance.

I think retaliation humping sounds like a bad idea all together.

My male has picked up a very similar habit in the past week. I've had to stop holding him so much because of it. It started when I had him in my lap with one of my females and he tried to mate with her in my lap (I saw him twitch his tail and get ready to bite and I got my hand in between them as fast as I could). He's 10 months old. I think it's teenage hormones.
