ok just thought i'd share this. I took the wee one to the vet today because it hadn't eatin in almost 2wks. and i began to worry. nothing i tried worked.
so 105.00 dollars later :) this is the outcome

there was no poo in the darling little one to do a fecal exam, or a "flush" the Dr. called it so while there they treated it with a tube-feeding formula and deworming meds. gave me ponazuril to take home at give her/him. she/he only weighed in at 6grms :(

i have to take her/him back in about 2wks for a 2nd tube-feeding & deworming.... that just does not sound pleasant at all!!!! :)

But as long as she/he gets all better it's worth it.

My only concern is trying to give the meds... it's such a small little thing :main_huh: and i can let her crawl on my hand just fine. but holding and prying open the little mouth. hmmm? not so sure. she is still very skittish at her little size. any suggestions would be great. thanks for reading

Here is a picture of the little one

I don't hold them still when I need to feed them medicine, I just put a drop on their lips and they'll lick it off. Much less stress than forcing their little mouths to open.

We have had to hand feed several times, and some geckos just don't want to sit still :main_rolleyes: but once you put a few drops on their lips, they usually lick it off and you can keep doing that.. sometimes they won't lick it off for a few minutes, but if you just give them time, they do evenutally :main_thumbsup:

Sorry to hear that this is happening :main_thumbsdown: Which vet did you go to? I'd be interested in finding other vets, although you may in fact go to the same one we have :main_robin:

Best of luck to you and your little one!!!!

Thank you everyone :sweetheart:

So after having my 6yr old tell me where 0.02 is on the seringe ( i'm pretty blind) I did try to put some of it on the tip of her nose. but she was more interested in getting away than licking it off. but i was able to finally get her mouth open, after she showed her irritation with me by biting my fingernail that I was using to get her mouth open :main_laugh:

and Jess I go to the Arizona Exotic Animal Hospital it's on Center Between Bron & University

LOL, yeah some of them get irritated sometimes, but the hand feeding should get easier as they get more used to it :main_thumbsup:

And yes, that is the very same one that we go to :main_yes: :D

I was trying to remember so I could tell you, and then I came across a thread where I had talked about it and remembered that it was indeed Dr. Johnson. Haven't seen Dr. Wright yet, but I'm sure he is very friendly and knowledgable :D

How is the little one doing?
