As Ken (Snuffy) and I have learned - Mr. Nezbit is MUCH nastier than we first thought. As he said, we've been giving him a period of time to gain weight and get comfortable in his new home.. And it turns out he was very weak when we first got him. He used to let us stroke his back with little but backing away.. Now he leaps at us from across the tank!!

I'm posting this for him.. Because I tripped and spilled water on his computer.. Aannd.. He has to buy a new one.

ANYWAY.. I'm pretty sure it's been decided that Mr. Nezbit will be a display animal and a breeder. Kenny (Snuffy) will be working on taming captive bred juveniles.. Which I think is wiser.

EDIT: Oh, by the way, he's getting extremely fat! :D

I think that's gonna be a "win-win" for all involved. Sorry to hear about the computer, but glad to hear that the Tokay is thriving! :main_yes: Best of luck!

that sounds more like it... i only have 1 tokay... and i sure do wish i knew if he was CB or WC or what his back ground was... but i dont know, but he is mad chill... even my 2 year old can run around with him :D very awesome gecko... but i dont think i could ever get another knowing that it probally wouldnt be chill like ours is...

but this sounds like the wiser of the ideas... i highly agree with feeling its not right to change nature... if your looking for a challange buy a puzzle right? :p

I have never heard of a vinegar trick. I was waiting to see if this actually worked. I have kept and bred tokays for a awhile now and have never tried to get the aggression out of the wc adults. Though after some handling they do calm down, but as soon as you put them back in the cage its kinda like ground hogs day(the movie)
You can get the aggression out of cbb's somewhat. I still have been biten by my cbb's that grew up to adults after much handling on my part. Don't trust them fully, I have a couple nasty scars.

I do think they are more of a "show" reptile though, and actually like having the "pit-bull" of the gecko's.

Cat Training

Training your cat with vinegar to me is not a good idea and you should consult to a vet . And for the training your cat, I have two cats, ages 3 years and 5 years. The older is a girl, the younger is a boy, both fixed from 6 months or so old.

They are doing really well.. An adult cat CAN BE TRAINED to use the toilet.

Basically, you buy something called "Cat Training" and follow the steps on this website. My cats really seem to be doing okay. I think they'll take to it. But I'm going SLOW.. With an adult you have to go slower than with a kitten. BUT something to keep in mind, for at least a few weeks you WILL have to use a normal litterbox. Changes have to be made gradually, step by step. Here's the websites.

I would want to caution anyone who squirts a liquid into the mouth of a reptile. This can cause them to aspirate, and especially something as acidic as vinegar would be agonizing if it got into the animal's glottis.

I have used that squirt bottle of lemon juice to try and train my dogs to stop barking after being told "QUIET!", and it works pretty well. Now all I have to do it just show them the bottle, LOL!
