Vomiting

I got a new male two days ago and he's eating well but he's vomiting every thing he eats up. First night he brought up a cricket, and this morning I found a bundle of un-digested worms.

He's not on sand or anything and he's seems in good health otherwise. IE- Alert, moving, reactive to surroundings, good size and weight.

He wasn't shipped but he did make an hour car ride home with me from the breeder's house.

I'm thinking maybe some mineral oil to clean him out. The good thing is he's trying to eat. He's just can't seem to keep it down.

Now I've run in to newbies not eating right away but not continual vomiting; although it's only been two days; were already in love with him and don't want to see him in pain..

Any thoughts ?

thanks,
Mike J

Have you had a fecal done?

If he's eating too much at one time this can happen too. With the stress of being moved try just offering two mealworms or crix at a time and then a couple more 30 min later. This usually helps with gorgers.

I've only had him two days. I always get a fecal done around 5 days and have one scheduled for Friday morning.

I don't think he's gorging because the first night I only have gave him two crickets. I think he kept one down and the other was brought back up. I have a good relationship with the breeder and will tell him I'll keep him until Friday and if he comes around I'll keep him and if not I'll bring him back.

I will try giving him less mealies\crickets at each sitting.

you're not making me feel any better jason!! LOL

I'll watch him over the next two days and if he doesn't come around I'll return him for an exchange or refund..

it's sad because he's a gorgeous BB with Snake Eyes.. and he looks in perfect health and will go great with my BB midnight and other female BB.. We shall see..

Sorry, I am just saying that sounds like what happened to my first leo, and after he died. I was told it was an internal parasite that killed him :(. Hopefully yours is just stressed or something stupid.

Michael, how are you heating the warm side of his enclosure? Hopefully it's belly heat from a UTH, and if so, turn it up to about 92-94 degrees for his tummy.

I always use UTH's with a Rheostat to monitor. He wasn't on one before though. They had him in a temp controlled room but no belly heat. I'm really thinking it's stress to new surroundings and food thats been gutloaded probably differently from the breeder. Although I've purchased 4 from him and had no problems. I spoke with the Breeder and if he's not getting better by Friday I can return him.

I thought about the temp actually last night and juiced it up to 92 and it was the same this morning..

I hope i can keep him because i need him for my projects..

well he's eaten two crickets that I gave him over two twenty minute periods.. he's a lot more active tonight and we watched him drink very well. He also passed some good looking feces.. At least as good as a steaming pile of poo can look.. But no excessively runny or odd color and the same lovely aroma of my 13 others.. so I'm feeling that he'll come around. He has an appointment with our Doc on Friday morning regardless if he's better or not and we'll get him cleaned up. So were hopeful..
