id like to get one but i never had a snake before. Im not new to reptiles and ive been doing A LOT of research on these guys and they just seem to be the best choice of snake for me. So i guess what i want to know is, is there anybody out there who got one and then wished they hadnt?? Or is it even better than they thought? Did anyone out there ever get tired of their BP and got rid of it? i never get rid of my animals because i make sure they are what i want before i get them.

I got into bps and have never looked back. Can't get enough of the little critters.
I have placed some we got in as rescues in new homes (or we'd be over-run), but I always made sure the new owners knew what they were doing and they came over to interact with the snake first. I still stay in contact with every bp family I've had the pleasure of getting to know.
I absolutely love all my bps (even Kali, The Destroyer) and can't imagine life without them.:D

Just one opinion.

BPs are cool snakes, not a bad choice for new keepers. Personally I feel corns make much better first snakes because BPs can be problem feeders and are know to be off and on feeders. Not a prob if your familar with keeping snakes but if your new would likely scare you..

BP's are a good starter snake with their handleable nature. Some can be picky eaters(I've got a male that only eat whenever he feels like it, like today for the first time in 5 months and he only eats gerbils). You do have to be prepared in case you get one that may only take live. You can avoid this by getting one used to F/T. Corn snakes are also good starter snakes, they tend to eat more readily. Good luck finding the snake for you

i just don't see the appeal of a corn snake or garter snake or anything like that. For some reason i just LOVE the way the BP's head looks, and the shape of their body. Thats really what drew me to them in the first place. But seeing them in the pet stores just makes me want one so bad, they are so cute when they are little.

And they don't loose the cuteness as they get older!

And watch out for the nightly bouts of required lovins. This is our routine every night. (Maya and Cleopatra)

Also, can somebody tell me, when a BP is about 100 grams or in the 90's, how long is it? I know this is probably a rough estimate but thats all im looking for, just a general guess.

If I remember correctly, its 456 grams to a pound? (Right, guys?)
So, about the size of my little boys, which are around 16 inches long.
