Hi all, I have a pregnant little girl and she looks to be very close to laying. She has had a bad shed and I need to deal with it. I usually soak her while I get the shed off. It does make her angry but usually I don't care. But with her having eggs I am terrified of busting them inside her just by holding her and I also don't want her to lay earlier than she should. Can I give her a warm soak or not?

Also just so you know she has always been a lazy shedder. She gets off what she can and then stops trying completely. Right now she has it on her toes as well as her entire tail.

its ok that you give her a warm soak even if she is gravid. it actually eases her to lay her eggs. what i usually do is soak my females in for 15 minutes and then throw her back in with a heatlamp in one certain spot and just leave it on the whole time and she will lay !!! goodluck !

You can do warm soaks still. The eggs inside her are a lot stronger than you would imagine, so don't worry about damaging them by simply holding her. I have found that on average a gecko will lay eggs 6 days after shedding. So maybe that will help you guesstimate her lay date.
