Hi I fed my leopard gecko a wax worm as a treat and now she is addicted to them.... I know this because she will creep up to food lick it and walk away... With a wax worm she will lick it and just completely tear it up and eat it.... She has lost about ten grams she used to be 45 ish and now is only 36 35 ish... So is there anyway to unaddict her?

Shouldn't the wax worm increase your gecko's weight? Since its a fatty type of worm? Correct me if Iam wrong, always willing to learn new things.

Yep, it definitely sounds like a waxworm addiction to me. I haven't ever experienced it myself, but if it were me I would probably stop offering waxworms completely and vary the choices you offer her (mealies, super worms, crix, pheonix worms, etc.) She's bound to like something!

I would guess (and say obviously in an arrogant fasion) that he is feeding it a very small amount of wax worms so it isn't completely starving, while trying to introduce other foods. While wax worms ARE super fattening, think of it as eating McDonalds just once a week. You'll still loose weight.

Stop! Let your gecko begin to starve. It WILL eat the other food, in time. Offering any more wax worms will just continue the addiction. You have to let it go cold turkey!

Good luck, get your pet to join WWA (Wax worms anonymous).

Ah, I forgot about him trying to cut back.

Well I haven't been feeding it WW's but I have been giving her variety... I've tried supers, mealworms, dubia's, cricks... It is weird though she has been getting smaller in the tail but fatter in the stomach and I just weighed her and she is gaining.....
