The bedding they are sold in already has all the food they need for quite a while.

Feel sorry for them?
Did you buy them as pets or to feed your leos?

If you want to prevent them from turning black and becoming moths, store them at 46 to 50F.

when the worms turn black, does it mean that they are about to turn into moths?

When they turn black they are dead.
Keep them in the door of your refrigerator. If it's too cold, they will die.

I have read that most breeders treat them so they will not turn into moths.

My wax worms die so freaking fast. Thanks for the tip nats I think keeping them on the door will expand their lifespan haha.

2nd time around, I now have my first successful wax worm culture. I looked at it a couple days ago and was disappointed to see only a few wax worms. Today it is absolutely swarming! Gecko snack time soon!

Wax worms do better if left at room temp. 80deg or warmer. They last half as long if left in the fridge. They also need little to no moisture. They do not eat( Or very little) when they are at this stage in life they have allready shed their gut and are on their way to pupate.
