Because of the shortage I bought waxworms and superworms. i have two hatchlings that i feed waxworms, but they may be too small for supers. So are waxworms good or bad?

Bad, they are full of fat and are addicting so your geckos might not want to change back to normal meal worms. They will get fat and may develop fatty liver disease .

Bad ?? well I guess most things are bad when you have too much. Verity is good . Granted they are bad if you give them to your gecko all the time they are fatty but a candy bar once in a while is not going to hurt.

its kinda hard not to resort to waxworms though with the shortage now the smaller leos cant eat supers crickets are messy and smell awful you wont see me anywhere near roaches and Silkworms are expensive not to mention with the shortage alot of people are switching to silkworms and alot of places are selling out.

I have only been using them on the hatchlings though i heard that was ok but I'll definately buy crickets since i don want my geckos to become alcoholics and get addicted and then screw their liver up.

Unlike most I feed my wax worms. Yes they do eat, unlike most published material. I feed wax worm especially to my laying females to keep their weight up during egg laying. There are also times when geckos stop eating and concerns arise. Wax worms can also help that too.
I have little problem with my geckos refusing other food as many comment.
It could be due to how and what I feed my meal worms as I keep experimenting to produce a flavored/scented meal worm....I am not aware of any problem from using wax worms as I continue to purchase on average 1000 per month. ..........take care. / HJ

I fed both of my geckos (and my albino currently) wax worms to get weight on them because they were both skinny.
Just to get them to a decent weight. My large female prefers mealworms and the albino has a very small appetite for only crickets and the wax worms.

Just make sure you are dusting the waxworms with vitamins and minerals. And don't necessarily feed them an overabundance. Feed smaller portions, or skip a day or two every week, or alternate other food items.
There is nothing wrong with feeding geckos waxworms some of the time.
