I have been doing my own ever since I started keeping and breeding Leopard Geckos (about 6 years ago) and last year I finally caved in and bought the domain name and had it hosted through Yahoo. I used to use Net Objects Fusion to build my sites, but now I just use the Yahoo Sitebuilder program. It is easy enough to learn if you have ever worked with any pagebuilding programs before and it gives me decent results quickly because I am usually short on free time to update my site as often as I would like to. I think you will get more satisfaction learning to do it yourself, even if you wind up having someone else eventually creating a better one for you.

I made my website. It has been redesigned about five times in the past 8 years as I've learned new design principles and different techniques. Back when I was learning HTML I found WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) programs such as Dreamweaver, FrontPage etc. to be very helpful. You can view the design or code and see how it changes when you apply something new.
