Umm I'm new to the world of Geckos and have got 2 baby gecks but noticed that one of them, when eating, will shake his head furiously with his mouth slightly open after eating something - its only for a couple seconds but just wanted to know why this is?

He might be having problems swallowing the food items. I would try to give him something smaller. How larger, is he, and what are you feeding him?

They're small crickets (about half the size of his head), and also meal worms, although he only does the shaking thing when eating crickets? He is quite small, I would say a little underweight but he's eating well...

Is it more of a head thrashing? If so thats perfectly normal when Leopards eat.

Yeah Nigel it's more head thrashing? So that's okay? Strange that only one of them does it? Also the one that does it seems to be spending an awful amount of time in his moist hide, not sure why? We've had him about a month a half and hasn't shed yet, yet my other one (who is same age but completely different size) shed about 2 weeks ago? Sorry new to all this and getting a bit paranoid I think...

We have a female TA that does that with any food items. She has to shake it before she will eat it.

mines a baby too ive noticed him do it, Once he latches onto a mealworm when it starts to wiggle hell shake it.

Also once swallowed, does its throats, chest or stomach contract to crush prey inside??? ive noiced this happening after eating.

We have several geckos that will "shake" when they catch crickets, it's as if they are making sure they caught it and is in their grasp.. it's really hard to describe, but it sounds like what you are witnessing, and it is normal :)

One adult male does that and he will flip the prey item half the length of the tank.

That's hilarious HJ :main_laugh:
