Hey Whitney - I did go last year and it went pretty well. I know it's being organized and promoted very well by the herp society. I think the # of vendors is almost doubled for this upcoming year. We really need a show to bring out the more serious hobbiest/collectors around the southeast, for sure! I've had a hard time selling any geckos over $50 at most of the Atlanta shows lately....which almost doesn't make it worth my time and energy to vend. We'll see, hopefully the GA Expo will become a really strong show over the next few years...it has the potential.
I'm hoping to go to the one in November. It is held by the GA herp society. I hope it turns out well. It's been a while since I've been to a reptile show, and they almost NEVER come to Columbus, and the last one I went to was at the end of 05 in ATL. The repticon show, and less than half the vendors showed, the guy who was bringing their wheel spin thing broke down (truck caught on fire and all he could save was his dog in the cab), rainy. It just sucked over all. Well, I take that back, it wasn't too bad, but I was under the impression of a lot better. I was promised two spins on their next show and a bunch of other stuff since I had VIP tickets, but I just haven't had the time to go again. I wanted to go this past january in ATL, but ran out of time.
I just want to go and look. I've got a few things in mind, if I don't get impatient first, which is hard.
Paul, my parents and I were thinking the same thing. We were talking about the Daytona show, which I am unfortunately not going to. We were talking about the show that came to Columbus was with like 5 - 10 vendors. It sucked royally. I think us Georgians should think of something and pull together a really big show, ATL would be a better place for it than Columbus, but still. It would take a good number of serious hobbiest to pull together to pull it off, but we should try it.
