I heard a little while ago that there is a slight chance of one's gecko contracting parasites from crickets. I'm assuming that there is a chance that a gecko could get parasites from any feeders, but from what I've read crickets have a slightly higher risk. How likely is this to occur? Has anyone ever traced a case of parasites back to the feeder?
I ask because, while I normally don't feed my geckos crickets, I sometimes do for the sake of variety, and it is difficult to keep their enclosure clean. They poop on everything, but from what I can tell as long as I have food and water for them they won't actually eat it - this is where I would think they could become carriers for parasites. (?) Also eating other dead crickets, but I remove those as soon as I find them.
