What can I add to my Leo setup?

It seems kind of empty and boring, what can I do for the leos with this setup? How can I make it better for them. I was thinking about adding another hide that hugs the glass like that rock hide on the right so I can put another uth in front of it.... Any suggestions?

that is a florescent light above the tank so if i need to see or anything i can switch it on or off...

I have 3 uth's.... two of them are on the side of the tank next too the hides on their warm side. And one big one underneath that side of the tank.

I thought about adding a background. Do they need anything to climb on out to play with?

I was gonna say background too. Maybe some floor plants, also? My leo loves climbing all around the plants I have set up haha. It goes over on top of them and through the leaves and vines and everything, pretty cool!

Here's what I'm talking about:

If you want a background OUTSIDE the tank, go with a pretty picture like in the post above. But what I would recommend is a HabiScape Rock Wall which you put INSIDE the tank for the leos to climb on.

I have them in almost every hatchling glass tank AND of course in my big wooden cages. I buy the 10 gallon ones (for about 20 bucks each), and cut them and put two together, if I need a bigger piece. They look awesome, and the geckos love to climb on them and lie on the small platform on the top. I shorten them, so they leave about 3 inches below the screen top, so they can sit there. You can also make them reach the screen top, but that's less fun and less sitting/lying space for the gecks.

Those rock walls look naturalistic, but are made of styrofoam that you can simply cut with a kitchen knife. You can also make holes in it to lead cables through (I had this for a water fountain I no longer use). They are about 2 inches wide, so it takes a little bit away from your floor space, but not much. They exist in bigger sizes, too, but are harder to find.

I'm adding some pics of my cages.

:D

I've bought different kinds of hides and trees and extra stuff, my guy just mostly sticks to his moist tupperware hide, kept on the warm side. occasionally he warms his full belly under the warm [dry] hide. he's like the cat you buy expensive toys for but he likes the milk carton ring the most

... P.S. oh, and you will need a screen top (I don't think you have one) when you use the HabiScape Rock Wall, because the geckos will climb up on it and crawl out of your cage otherwise :main_laugh:

I would just google it and compare prices. Petco doesn't always have the cheapest hides. You might try amazon.com and ebay, too!

I love the rock background, LZRDGRL! I would've definitely done that, but I have very limited depth as far as my tank goes so it would've taken too much space. But Jusselin looks like his tank has more than enough space for it :)

I do have space, how ever most of my heat comes from the uth's on the side. I would be worried about losing heat

If the side UTH's are in your way, just exchange the front of the tank for the back, and put a rock wall on the front ;) The tank looks the same on both sides. This way, the glued-on UTH's won't get in the way. You can't take them off and re-use them, only discard them, so you'd want to avoid that...

If you have a zoomed uth ur able to take it off and replace in my experience. Just be slow and careful when taking them off.
