I have my female with my very docile male year round and she has laid for me before. However for whatever reason they have not copulated as of yet. Is there anyway to both promote this along with ovulation? thanks

Don't take this wrong......
Are you there watching 24/7?
How are you sure they didn't?
Did you keep record of the last season breeding?
Record of the last season egg laid. Hatching?
If any of these are a Yes. They will be close to the dates once again,
if the diets stayed near the same. Take care. HJ

I remove the male for a week and change the bedding in the female's cage. A week later I reintroduce the male and watch him. If the female aggressively attempts to get away (ie. bites and bounces all over the tank), I remove the male. I then watch very closely for 1-2 weeks to see if that encounter stimulated ovulation. In most cases it does (provided you know when they bred last year and have a good sense of when she'll be in season again), and then I reintroduce the male with the female for 5-10 minutes at a time. Copulation generally occurs right in front of me within 5 minutes if the female is ready.

I keep the male and female separate for the rest of the season, although at about the 3-4th clutch I like to reintroduce him again to make sure the next clutches are fertile. I generally only house males and females together during the dormant season, which for me is November-January.
