A lot of you guys have told me that my sand and red light are not good for leopard geckos, and i felt so bad that i want taking care of my geckos right. So what substrate would you recommend? I was considering reptile eco carpet. What is the best night light color?

Basically anything solid. A common one for a nice looking set up is slate or tiles. You can also use reptile carpet, paper towels, excavator clay, I've even seen some people glue sand to a mat so it is not loose but still looks nice.

As for lights, I wouldn't recommend having any light at night. Leopard geckos have excellent vision and can see any color light you use. Having too much light at night will disrupt their photo cycle. Since they are nocturnal, night is very important to their health and well being. You can use a dim light (if I were to do this I would probably use blue) for viewing purposes, just make sure to turn it off when you're not viewing.

I second the tile. I use it in my leo's tank

Paper towels are also a good choice. I'd avoid repti carpet if possible, as it can potentially be problematic.

I've used either paper towels or newspaper as substrate. I've never used anything else. I use no lights at all. I have in the past, when I didn't have a heat mat on hand, used a low wattage black moonglo bulb.
