I hadn't given it much thought before, but I now realise my females tail is shorter than others that I have seen. My only guess is before I got her at 4 months she dropped part of it, or had it bitten off etc. Is there anything I can do about it?

Your guesses are as good as mine. Not much can be done. I'm sure that is the least of her worries:)

she either dropped her tail at some point or lost part of it. It looks healed so nothing needs to be done. It happens.

I cant imagine it being a full lost tail, it would have been a lot more bulbous would it not? Though with cramped conditions as a baby she easily could have lost some I guess

She lost at least some of it. I cant tell you how much. Thats what a regenerated tail looks like. They either lose it in a bad shed, some trauma or during a fight with a cagemate if she was housed with another gecko. There are multiple reasons why she could lose her tail.

She only lost about half an inch of it, and it looks like it is still in the process of regrowing. She lost it in a "good" place, so it didn't become stumpy and bulbous :main_yes: The little regrown tip should get longer with time, until it's finished regrowing. She's a very pretty gecko; nice light body color! And I like your cage floor; one doesn't see that every day :main_thumbsup:

P.S. If you want to see some educational photos of how tails are severed, look at my Education tab (about the middle of the page) ;-)

Thanks, will check it out. The floor is non adhesive shelf liner, cheap, easy to clean and looks pretty nice :).
