What do you feed your mealies?

I'm looking to see what kind of stuff people feed their mealies and where they get it. I usually get boxed bran from the store. I've looked at the Multi-Grain Cereal from Wal-mart, but not sure how it'll work. What do you guys use?

I buy that huge thing of dry oatmeal (not instant) from walmart and then I grind it up in the food processor and put that in as bedding. Then I throw carrots, potatoes, celery, romaine lettuce in for moisture (whatever I have on hand).

chick starter mixed with dog food. For moisture I use potatoes and sometimes oranges.
Please note on your chick starter if it has a warning about feeding to laying hens. I used it until I read that there are two chemicals in it that may effect egg production.
I now use Layer Hen Crumbles
in place of it.

Here is 3 Vets. lengthly prepared recipe list to select from.

I use parts of these with the Crumbles.
Orange Skins and carrots for moisture.

Local grocery / bulk food store:
Box of dry milk.
Baby rice cereal.
Unsalted sunflower seeds.
Wheat germ.
Mixed unsalted nuts.
Shredded coconut.

Bee pollen (also available directly from local beekeepers).
Powdered spirulina or Klamath Lake algae.
Dried sea kelp.
Dried egg yolk (or you can make your own with a food dehydrator).
Dried dandelions (or you can make your own with a food dehydrator).Alternatives:

in my thoughts
thanks for the reply. I never new that but so far my mealies have been doing well since I switched about 1 month ago and already started seeing new baby mealies. Are you concerned for the geckos or the meal worms? I will look into changing it if I notice anything wrong in the next batch I make since I don't want to trow away mealworms egg + babies in the one I have going with chick starter.

Where I feel it may be a problem is, after the gecko eats the meal worms it could have problems in egg production. Only an opinion from the label warning. Last year I had problems with the eggs when I used it. This year no egg problems. I changed other things too, so I can't be sure that was the problem. Anyway I switched over. Take care. HJ
