What do you use to label your tubs?

I really need a label maker and I am looking at Dymo's

There seems to be a zillion different models of them on ebay
Does anyone have one that they really like that is easy on the hands and that has a large (I have old age eyesight) viewing area?

Can you give me Model numbers to check out please?

The digital ones look so cool

I'm afraid that when I first though of a label maker -I remembered the stone age ones that you used to dial and click the handle-lol

Any input is greatly appreciated

I can spend around $50-can I get a decent one for that and how much are tape refills?
Also- is ebay the best place to look for one?

Thanks
Sandy

I looked into them one time. I might still get one because of feeders. My work had an industrial one. They are $1000+. Ebay is probably your best bet. Tape refills are not too expensive, as long as the are not stickers. You can also get differnt sized labels to print with. Thats about all I know.

Thanks John and Matt-I can;t get to any stores other than a Wal-Mart very easily and because of the flooding right now
That's all we have in a discount type store in this town-have to drive 40 miles north to Kankakee to get to the other big box stores

I'm not even sure if i could get to the Wal-Mart here -except by boat and I have a bee in my bonnet for a label maker

:main_rolleyes:

I'll look around on ebay and Amazon
I have insomnia so it will keep me busy until i get tired enough to fall asleep-lol

Oh Wow-thanks for the link to Amazon-I completely forgot about the Brother one
I think that will be the one-the price looks right and I'll just order an extra cartridge with it
How many labels would one cartridge make for just typing the geckos brief info?

Thanks so very much Andrea !!

You're very welcome, Sandy!;)
I labeled about 60 tubs so far and I'm still on the same cartridge, but i suppose it depends on how much info you are putting on each label.

Im cheap and since you sell and buy and leos change bins Im all for the Sharpie marker and masking tape, $15 a year, its a permanent marker then the tape cab be removed as needed.

Why not use business cards and some plastic card holders glued to the side of the tub? ;) Thats kinda what I would do/ going to do.

I'm with you dragonfly. You can do better-tape in bulk from the $ store and pens! With hatchlings moving in/out of bins, it's easier for me to put the info I need on a 2-3 inch piece of tape and just move it tape it to a larger bin if I have to.

Thanks again everyone
I went with the Brother and ordered it from Amazon last night

Since I mainly just keep my Geckos as pets I don't have them constantly moving in and out of tubs -beside that-I love gadgets-lol

When I first got our Dymo I went crazy labeling everything in our house. The tv remote in our bedroom still says "remote" as if anyone would not know what it is!

A trick for labeling tubs is to use the plastic tape and only pull off half of the paper backing, then they're really easy to pull off and stick on another tub if need be.

I can see myself doing that
Thanks so very much everyone for all the info and tips

I will be glad to finally have my small amount (around 30) of tubs labeled as my memory isn't what it used to be-lol

HA! Atleast we're not the only ones! lol! We labeled all of the different mealies, the gecko spray bottles...we even started writing messages to each other and sticking them on ourselves. :main_yes: :main_laugh:

I use bussiness cards that have 2 red (female) blue (male) yellow (unsexed) and write the number an morph on the card along with date of birth, breeder and date obtained. Works for me. Malorie is a post-o-holic! She is beating me with posts since September!! Its game time!:main_laugh: :main_rolleyes: :main_thumbsup:
