What gecko is right for me?

Hi everyone :) Im looking to get a gecko very soon if things work out, and need help finding out which ones would be a good first gecko for me. Due to location, its going to have to be a pet store gecko :( but Im not looking to breed or anything like that.

Of course the most common locally is the leopard gecko, which there is tons of info about, and it looks like an easy to care for gecko with a good personality. As of right now Im thinking this might be my best bet. Of course each animal varies.

They also recently got in marble geckos which they are selling very cheap, but I can't find any real info about them. Cool looking critters, but if it's not a good first gecko I want to stay away from them. They also had spined? or spikey geckos, I can't remember which, and very little info about them as well.

Sorry for the rambling post, basically just wondering if anyone has any info about those two, or can recommend others that make for a good beginner gecko. Thanks!

Why would you have to get a Petstore gecko? Pretty much everyone on here who breeds will ship to you. I would recommend a leo or African fat tail.

My concern with shipping is partially because of the distance between here (Maine) and most breeders. That alone would be pretty hard on animal I would think, combined with the way things are treated once they reach up here. Things can sit on shipping docks for days in sub zero temps. Not sure how live animals are shipped, however, so my thinking may be wrong:main_huh:

Are there any breeders in New England? I know it's probably the wrong forum, but since it's come up :)

In any case, I have to determing gecko type before looking where to get it. I only mentioned pet store because one close by has a huge reptile selection (not a chain store) that has the geckos I was inquiring about. But unless theres anything convincing about those 2, it's probably going to be a leopard. :D

All live animals are shipped with overnight shipping. You will usually have it by the next day. I would recommend a leo or african fat tail.

Marbled Geckos are easy, but probably arn't beginner geckos because beginners want to touch geckos and Marbleds are a look and don't touch, not to mention probably wc gecko.

Do Leopard . . .

I finally tracked down a care sheet for the marble geckos that said the same, not friendly to be handled. So it looks like a leo is the best choice. Thanks for the advice.
