I have no access to any type of heating or heat mats. please don't question this. What type of animals can live in an enviroment (Florida) where the temp can range anywhere from 95 to 40. Of course i can offer these animals shade and fans and such when it is really hot, and a place to burrow when it is very cold.

What can I keep?

P.S. I don't want to hear you complaining about how "I should really consider getting heat" or "Im obviously not suitable of taking care of animals" I just want an answer :main_thumbsup:

Thanks

perhaps an african clawed frog? i live in southern florida and have had several and they do fine with just a regular light bulb for some heat. not a whole lot of fun tho, theyre kind of like the fish of the herp world. but cool and neat to watch.

You may not want to hear it, but if you don't have access to basic husbandry supplies then you shouldn't be keeping any reptiles. Florida has plenty of native (and non-native) herps running around, maybe do a little field herping and enjoy them in their native habitat until you can properly care for some reptiles of your own.

If you can keep the temperatures in the cage between about 60 and the low 80's you could have a crested gecko. I keep mine in New England without extra heat. In the winter the temperature in the house at night may be as low as 60. In the summer, when it gets hotter than the low 80's I put him in a cage in the basement. Now I know that most houses in Florida don't have basements, but they usually have air conditioning, so you could just cool him on the really hot days. Another possible choice, if you can provide lighting (and this does get kind of expensive because you will need to change the florescent bulb every 6 months) would be a bearded dragon. If you can't get an under tank heater because you have parents who are worried about fire or something like that, then these choices may work for you (the crested gecko requires a smaller cage and less lighting than a bearded dragon). If you can't get the heater because you don't have enough money, then, once again, no herp is the right choice.
