meal worms are much easier and crickets are not enough for them and they run around and waxworms are to fattening and should be more like a treat

use superworms as they are more nourishing than mealworms and fatten up my geckos nicely but not unhealthily like waxworms do. I use crickets on occasion but mainly for my cresteds not my leos

In my opinion, I think mealies are the best. (Yes, i am biased because I only use mealies) Mealies are really easy to breed and they don't need very much maintanance. Crix smell really bad and they cannibalise. it is also easier for crix to jump out of a bowl and when they do, they may nibble on the gecko while it is sleeping. Waxies should be used as a treat because they are very addictive to leos and very fattening. Super have very strong jaws and there have been some horrible rumors that supers could chew its way out of a gecko's stomach. The most recent horror story on the forum (if I'm not mistaken) about supers is where a super bit a gecko's eyelid. Hope this helps.

None of the above, roaches are far better than all 3 put put together. Easy to breed. Easy to maintain. No smell, don't fly, dont make any noises. Also once the colony is established no more feeder costs. Yes mealies and supers are pretty easy to breed but the involve a little work, roaches do not.

Yeah, but try explaining why you're keeping roaches in your house on purpose to a room mate, or worse, a spouse! I might switch to roaches someday, but until I get my own place it's just not going to be possible because of the stigma surrounding them (especially in the South!).

I've had no luck with superworms. My geckos generally look at them like they're three-eyed aliens from Mars and run away. Mealies are my preference because they're so easy, cheap, and clean.

I have a wife that is deadly afraid of roaches, but I keep thousands inside. Convincing them about the benefits and how much money that you will be saving isnt that hard.

That's my husband but he is trying to get over it. He grew up in a tropical climate and they were unavoidable there. He remembers them running around and it freaks him out.

I have never had to deal with roaches being around so they are just like any other bug to me. Actually, they are much less gross to me than crickets...blah. I hate crickets.

I have to say that I looooove roaches! All my geckos LOVE them..even the extremely picky one. :) Dubia are also extremely easy to maintain...so its win/win, at least in my opinion. I'm not afraid of roaches though and even handle mine occasionally :p

I'm a cricket guy all the way. I like how i can gut load a cricket on my left over salad for my bearded dragon. I can order them online and get them for as little as 3cents a cricket. If that... actually I think I'm at 2.36 cents. My geckos never seem interested in mealies or super worms. Hence the crickets its a little work yes but i think my girl friend would die if i got roaches!

Roaches are best. I breed Speckled feeder roaches, They are very nutritious, clean, extremely easy to breed and geckos love em.

I'm getting more and more interested in roaches... I've heard nothing but good things about them. Where is the best place to get dubias, and how many do you feed a day? I'm going to the Hamburg expo this weekend, not sure if they'll have 'em there.

Probably best is a variety. Mealworms are a good staple, I feel, but crickets can be better so far as then they can 'hunt' them. But so far I'm really loving my roaches. Yeah, there's an ick factor, but they breed so much easier than mealworms (which, considering how easy those are to breed, is saying something) and they are much less annoying than crickets. Plus all my geckos LOVE them and now refuse to eat anything else.

I got mine of Craigslist for free- and soon I might have to start giving them away. Even with nine geckos I'm still being overrun! (Did I mention they are easy to breed? lol)
