This is a very nice Wild Type leopardgecko. He's a bit skinny though and in his younger days received not enough calcium and/or D3 (look at the legs). Feed the animal a lot and suply extra calcium (by dusting the preys) and calciumdrops in the water. Use a D3 suplement as well. This way you prevent it getting worse. Nice coloured animal though and enjoy taking care for it!!

Allright that was a nice answer :main_thumbsup: I'am going to go out and buy some calcium and D3 ASAP.

His body looks thin but his tail isn't deathly thin, he really just looks more dehydrated than anything. He definitely has signs of metabolic bone disease so Yuri's advise to get him extra calcium was excellent. Hopefully you can prevent it from getting any worse.

I agree.... this gecko was not cared for properly. He is thin, does look to be dehydrated, and either has or had metabolic bone disease (MBD) from calcium deprivation.

The good news is that he is with you now, and everything you need to know about getting him healthy again is available right here on GeckoForums!

Keep us posted on his progress...

ok well i went to petsmart, just got back, and got him a UVB light i couldint find the drops for the water but i got the calcium for the food. also i got a thing of mealworms, waxworms, and pinky mice. they told me that the wax and pinky worms were to fatty for everyday food and that the mealworms were to hard to digest.. i did not get any crickets because most of them were dead in the cage thing. would it be allright to give him meal worms everyday?

mealworms are the best staple diet in my opinion of any feeder insect (geckos do not have a hard time digesting them). I have bred and raised geckos for 9 years on nothing but mealies. Pinkies and wax worms are ok every now and then, but stick with mealies and crickets. The most important thing and I cannot stress this enough is to gutload your mealies or crickets before you feed them to your gecko. this means dry oatmeal, fish food, ground high quality dog food, carrots and potatoes. these foods should be the staple for your mealies. geckos ARE what they eat...Also place a small shallow dish of calcium in with your gecko. They will lick it from the bowl when they need it...p.s. your gecko doesnt need a uv light. :main_thumbsup:

But it doesn't hurt and you'll see the colours much more beautiful! ;) Did you get any vitamin-suplements? Things like 'calvirep' will be just fine, it contains everything the gecko needs.
