what is the best way to keep your crickets alive for the maximum amount of time?

i am keeping some crickets ( a couple hundred) and i do not usually keep this many at a time (i hate crickets) but i want to get the best and longest life i can out of them.
any tips? temps, food, water crystals? carrots? etc?

Keep them warm(75-80°F) and dry, gut loaded with a good dry gut load, carrots, potatoes, apples. Clean out any die offs you have because the decaying bodies will just cause more to die.

Robin:main_robin:, dehydration is the biggest culprate in taking life from crickets.:main_yes:
Both self destruction and causing :Dcanni:Dbalism:D :main_angry::Din adults.
They eat everything on board
and will drown on a damp sponge.
Best food is Layer Hen Crumbles.
Water crystals is best for hydration.
....Takes a bunch of taters, etc.
to satisfy their thirst, but they do supply
other nutrients good for that loving gecko................
Opinions taken from the 2009 edition of
"HJ cricket observations journal handbook 101."
chapter 10, pride in your gecko's prey food.
.......cause:
it be showing up in da gecko health report.
Take care. Hj

+1 :main_thumbsup:

Crickets should be kept in a well ventilated container with plenty of climbing space. You should feed a LOW Calcium Powder Diet and you can use potatoes, apples, moist paper towel, or water crystals (NO Calcium added) for their water source. Keep them dry, well fed, hydrated, and give them plenty of room.

Good Luck! :)

I keep mine in a large tub, that I cut the middle of the lid out and glued in window screen for ventilation.

I use my own mix of dry gutload and for water, I use, well water. This is what I use for a water dish.

Make sure you stack your egg crate vertically. This allows any crickets that die, as well as poop to fall to the bottom.

Make sure you supply an endless supply of food and water.

I buy 1000 crickets at a time and yes, I lose a few, but most make it to my reptile's bellies. Mind you, 1000 crickets barely lasts me two weeks.

also remember get just enough that you can feed them to you geckos because the crickets life expectancy is very short
