Don't know if this is anywhere else on the fourm. If it is, please PM me the link and delete this!

Anyhoo

I want to start taking nice pictures of my bettas, other fish, and my leo. I have a camera but the flash is WAY too bright, and when I turn the flash off it doesn't know where it's trying to focus  I'm pretty camera-challanged.

Any good suggestions would be nice :)

I got a Kodak Easy Share SLR Z710 for Christmas and I love it
I am still learning to use the manual settings but it takes damn good close-ups just on the auto settings

BTW-fish photography is one of the most difficult things to master because of the reflection of the glass of the tanks

You have to slant the camera at an angle to get the flash to be either above or below the main part of your pic and not reflected right in the middle of your pic
Brightly lighted tanks such as reef tanks are the easiest to get pics of

I spent many years with inexpensive cameras trying to get good pics and finally came to the conclusion that you really need a SLR to get decent ones

Unfortunately by the time I got a decent camera-I no longer was able to keep fish-lol
I can only imagine what nice pics that I would have gotten of my angel fish etc with the camera that I have now
I sure do miss my fish

Here are some pics of my fish-as you can see the phots aren't that great
these were taken with a 2 mp camera with no optical zoom on it

just my 2 cents

I just got a new camera, a sony cybershot, the thing is awesome :D. People always tell me sony is the best for digital cameras and I would have to agree. Wish I had of got one sooner, had this polaroid for awhile and this stinks for what I want it for..

My previous camera was a Sony and I loved it too

I have owned a Panasonic and I didn't like it at all
It sadly lacked many features that the other brands have including a decent optical zoom that is a must with doing any close-up photography
