Just bought a vivexotic LX36 for the leos but with it being made mainly out of wood the daylight they get will no doubt be significantly reduced... I would like to put lighting in anyway just for preferance but is there any particular bulb which may be better for them? Also should I have it running the full 3ft?

I would suggest just a regular 15-25 watt incandescent bulb covering only part on the viv so the leo can be far enough away from it if it bothers them. Since they are low humidity type herps you should be able to get away with using a regular trim line type light fixture. Love to see it after you get it all together.

I wouldnt put ANY kind of lights in the cage. They will stress them out. You could turn on a lamp outside of the cage. Since my gecko room has no windows i just have a lamp that it set on a timer. Works for me

I find thats lights only tend to bother my albinos, my other leopards are fine with it.

When I say "fine with it", they dont squint or show signs of wanting to get away from it.

i wana add lighting to my leopard geckos cage as well to simulate day and night time.
what kind of bulb and how many watts would be recommended that wont overheat the tank to much that the UTH has to be below 90 to keep a good temp?
I tried a 40 watt incandescent bulb but it was to hot to where i had to lower my UTH to about 85, 85.
