Hello
This is my first post and I come looking for knowledge. Thank you in advance for any and all help.
My 5th grade daughter is very interested in reptiles and reptile genetics
We were in +++++ the other day and she noticed this Gecko which was substantially different than the other Geckos in the tank
She wants to learn about its genetic make up, but I have no idea what it is. The tank was just marked Leopard Gecko and a price ($24.99)
Any help in identifying this lizard would be greatly appreciated

Welcome to GF. This is a Tremper albino gecko. Albinos are notable for their lack of black pigmentation which is why this one is beige/light brown where most geckos are black. It is a recessive gene. There are 3 strains of albino: Tremper, Bell and Rainwater (also called Las Vegas). They look similar with subtle differences. The important thing is that breeding different albino types together will not produce a gecko that looks albino. The gecko needs 2 copies of the same albino gene to look albino.
