Roaches

You would be far better served feeding them only the roach and no mealworms. I say that because the mealworm have nothing to offer that the roaches dont do in a superior fashion. Variety in and of itself means nothing. Variety where each item is bringing something different does.

An example of variety that is beneficial is silkworms, roaches, worms(not mealworms) and grasshoppers.

I am starting a colony of Dubais, but I need to work on the setup probably. Right now the adults are in with the babies I ordered. It's a work in progress. I will probably add some variety, for the sake of variety. Though I'll try to give them a good variety, like Digby mentioned, maybe order some silkworms. They might get an occasional wax worm now and again, but since the store close to me doesn't sell them, it will probably be on pretty rare occasion.

I feed Dubia roaches. They are one of the more nutritious feeders for one. They are easy to breed and keep a fully self contained colony, so that makes them one of the more cost effective feeders. And they do not stink like roaches!

I also have a colony of superworms to give the Dubia colony a break once in a while.

Are dubia's cost effective? And is the only place to get them online? I am feeding my baby mealworms because I live with someone who has an absolute phobia of crickets. But, I don't want to breed my own roaches. Would you suggest ordering online or is that a relatively expensive route?
