I currently don't have an incubator and prior to last night had them in a large deli cup with moss. I changed it to a small deli cup and perlite with a ratio of 80% water. I have the cup over my hot side with the other geckos. Temps are ranging between 78 and 80 in the cup. I have the hot set to 95 but it fluctuates between 91.2 and 95.8. Will those temps be okay and how long do think it would take to hatch?
With those temps you'll produce mostly females. I'd try any way you can to get those temps up to at least 82-83 degrees. With the temps you have it could take 60-70 days to hatch.
You don't necessarily need a store bought incubator. There is youtube videos of people making incubators to incubate their eggs in a fish tank with a fish heater also other similar ones that really don't cost much. I suggest checking them out. Here's a good one that should work well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wM5-0GMThF4&feature=related
You'll have a lot better consistent temps then just having a egg container in your cage with the geckos.
This incubator cost me less than $10.00 to make and it worked like a charm! The only thing I had to go out and buy was the 9x8 inch plexiglass window for the top and some silicone. The styrofoam cooler was 13x13x8 and a 4 watt nightlight bulb kept the temp at a nearly constant 87 degrees. The ambient temperature in my house is 76 degrees. If you want it a couple of degrees cooler (to produce females) you could try a bigger window or put a few small holes in the top. If your house is cold, you could try a 7 watt bulb. Just test it first for a few hours without the eggs. I also threw in a little water bowl for humidity. Good luck with your eggs! My babies ate their first meal today. Bob
