I plan on using a 20 gallon long tank for my gecko (once I get it). Should I get a uth for 10-20 gallons or one for 30-40 gallons? Because isn't a 20 long the same size (except for height) of a 29 gallon? And if you WERE using a 29 gallon tank, wouldn't you get the UTH for a 30-40 gallon tank?
Plus, my house stays around 70-57 (It gets cold at night) in the winter, so what would be best?
...Wow I just read that back and it sounds really confusing. :main_laugh:

I guess that your thinking of by a ZooMed UTH.. Well I just bought one rated for a 10/20 gallon and its just 8x6 inches. So you decide. It pretty much takes up 1/3 of a regular 10gallon tank (20x10).

Id get one size up from the recommended size. Whichever one heats 1/3 - 1/2 of the tank would be the correct one. Under tank heaters dont heat any area they arent in contact with, so even if it covers a little more than half the tank there will still be plenty of space for a cold hide.

Ok, so since the uth only heats what it's directly under, then the other side of the tank would be room temp. if there were no other heat source, correct?
