What to gut load food with

I want to gut load the food I feed my leos, but the gut load is high, since it is sold in jars and not bottles.

Instead of spending $25 on gut load, can I gut load crickets, waxies, mealies, and stuff with potatos, lettuce, fruits, and other veggie items, as long as they provide a source of water.

***I know that I have started a few threads, but I will cool it when I have my questions answered. I want the best for my leos.

I feed my roaches and mealworms with a mix of various grains and cereals (grinded into powder); and offer apples, oranges and carrots for moisture.
