What to pair my raptor with

I have a adult male raptor and I'm thinking about breeding but I'm having alot of trouble lol. I don't know what to breed him to so I'm looking for ideas. I can't figure out the genetic calculator as it's kinda complicated when your a breeding noob.
I would like to not produce a bunch of hets, visuals would be alot better but if I will get hets that's fine. I just don't want a bunch of normal hets. I have no clue what to pair him with. I will tell you some things I like and feel free to chime in with raptor morphs you like and how to get them so I can look the morph up and see if I like it.

Sunglows, shtct, tremper albinos, diablo blancos, mack super snows, blazzing blizzards, bell albinos. These are what I like but I don't know if I can pair them with my raptor and get what offspring. So feel free to chime in if you want. It will be awhile before I breed I'm just looking into it and gathering info.

I still need to get a 20gal L or bigger tank to house the male and female or females in, I will use my current 20tall to house the female in for quarantine while my male will reside in the 20l i get. If I get more then 1 female from the same breeder can I qt them together or no? I will get my incubator and baby rack all set up too before I buy the females. I just want to have everything all ready so I'm not scrambling around trying to get stuff.

SS's are my favorite morph so I would say a super snow. But thats a biased choice theres probally better combinations with raptors

Can you guys please tell me what I would get offspring wise when paired to what you suggest? I like alot of stuff you mentioned but I have no clue what the babies would be lol. I need to know that also.

What about a sunglow? I see tons of different info on them but is it a tremper albino Super hypo tangerine basically? What would I get from that pairing?

If you breed a Super Snow and a RAPTOR you would get Mack Snow het RAPTORs. Then you could breed the offspring together or back to the father to make Mack Snow RAPTORs.

A Sunglow is what you said, so a Sunglow(Tremper SHT) X RAPTOR would give you Tremper albinos with varying degrees of patternless stripe, tangerine, and hypo-ness(reduced spotting) that were all het eclipse. There are people that have been doing this... check out crestedgecko.com He has a bunch of these that you could get for sale.

I would try doing a little reading on the leopardgeckowiki about morphs and such.

Also I think it would make more sense if you had your female/s in the 20 long and the male in the 20 high. 20 long in essence is a larger enclosure, has more space for walking and furniture so housing multiple geckos in there makes more sense to me. Also breeding females deserve to be spoiled... they do all the work!

I don't mean to sound like a jerk, but if you want to breed you really need to take some time to learn the basic rules of genetics and what modes of inheritance the various traits follow. You will be much more successful if you truly understand what you are doing and not just blindly putting geckos together and hoping for cool babies.

That's why I asked what I would get from the offspring so I can look it up. I cant get that genetic calculator for the life of me and it's a little hard since alot of these geckos have alot of different genes in them to make the morph. I understand dominant co Dom and recessive tho. I just don't know what all is what. Can you post
up a link that has good info Tony c? That would help alot.

I understand what your saying Tony c, no harm done. That's why I'm asking questions first. I wouldn't just put a pair together and see what I got, that's not the right way to go about doing things for me. I'm still learning and I read stuff everyday. I just need some help lol, i gotta start somewhere. Please feel free to post a link to something that is helpfull if you want. I don't understand all the Leo lingo yet but I'm working on it.

I just need some help that's all so point me in the right direction if you can.

Rampant reptiles thanks for the advice, by far the best Leo prices I have seen. I'm gonna book mark that site for sure.
I'm only wanting to start off with 1 female. That way I can see how it goes and how I do with the offspring. I can easily house 16 6qt tubs in my rack, I've been looking at animal plastics for a rack tho.

I'm not getting into breeding yet. I may have to get lower back surgery this year so I'm not gonna look forward to doing anything this year. I will continue to read tho as I have alot to learn still. I couldn't keep up with this if I get back surgery so it's going on the back burner for now.
At least this way i can have alot of time to learn stuff plus I can buy whatever racks and thermostats I need and a big incubator too. It was fun for a day or two but my hopes got shot down lol, at least for 2010 that is..

I plan to write a genetics guide for the forum when I have the time, but for now your best bet is to just dig through the forums. Robing posted a link to a good genetics primer recently, and the Leopard Gecko Wiki has a pretty extensive list of morphs and their modes of inheritance. If you have more specific questions feel free to post a thread or if you prefer you are also more than welcome to PM me.
