I have looked into all my options but I wanted to get other opinions on this. What would you pair with a Tangerine Enigma? Keep in mind the projects I am wanting to work on are Cremesicles and Snowglows. My males to choose from are

Cremesicle Enigma
Mack Snow (poss Giant)
Sunglow

I would pair a Cremesicle Enigma to go for some nice line bred Cremesicle Enigmas.

No, don't breed a Tang Enigma to a Cremesicle Enigma. It is a breeder no-no to breed two Enigmas together. If you have to breed Enigmas, do it with outcrossing to a non-Enigma, so you don't enhance the Enigma syndrome.

There's no published research yet about a detrimental effect of breeding two Enigmas together, but I wouldn't do it. You might end up with neurologically dysfunctional hatchlings. I had one gecko from a Bell Enigma x Snow Enigma breeding (the Bell showed the syndrome), and the hatchling was very disturbed. It couldn't walk straight and had no sense of balance. It needed to be hand-fed, and even then it was biting the fingers more than the food. I've never seen the syndrome that bad before.

Could i pair her with my mack snow male and then breed the non enigma offspring to the cremesicle? Would that be a better pairing? Then i would still be on the same path for making more cremesicles.

Wow, so it actually influences the syndrome? I've never heard that before but I believe it. So don't go for Enigma x Enigma.

It could or it could not. Thats the problem. Its unpredictable. It's better to not and be on the safe side in my opinion.

Does anyone know if the enigma issue is made worse, better or no difference if you breed a offspring back to its parent?

From all the research I'v done there is no proof but the general consensus is don't do it so i'm going to agree with LZRDGRL and say don't do it.

I think even that cannot be answered. I bred Snow Enigma offspring (Mack Snows from a healthy MS Enigma male) back to their Enigma father. Some hatchlings had the syndrome, and some did not. One very bad, one very slight, one not at all, and one only developed it after she was a year old but was perfectly fine as a hatchling. And this although I out-crossed with a wild-caught female that I bought a few years ago; it didn't help that the females were F1 and F2 wild-caught. Their babies still developed the syndrome.

Maybe someone who has lots of Enigmas can make statistics about that. I'm selling most of my Enigmas, and I don't have enough to come to a conclusion. But in my experience, the syndrome was worst when I paired a Bell Enigma to a Snow Enigma (the Bell had the problem).

wow thats interesting. I think I will not be doing any enigma x enigma pairings in the near future. I would rather limit the chance of any issues. Thanks for all your help! My pairings this year with my enigmas will be with non enigmas. Although I know the enigmas can show the syndrome at any time.
