The title says it all. We know papertowl is always safest and easiest and thats what we use but our snakes keep refusing to use the papertowl as they should. They constantly slide under it and hide from view and shit directly on the tank glass!

I use repti-bark and havent had any probs. If you do use a loose substrate dont feed them directly on the tank floor as u probly alredy no.

From the research that I've done for my soon-to-be-owned corn snake, I found that aspen is one of the popular choices aside from paper towels. I read somewhere that the repti-bark must be heated first to kill off any mites.

Repti bark or other bark for reptiles found in pet stores is already heat treated, so you dont need to heat it. If you were to buy bark or mulch from a garden store or something, it would need to be heated.

For my corn I use Desert Snow. It is a product made by T-REX. It is pure white and shows off the color of my corn. It is very easy to spot clean, so I don't have to replace bedding. I highly recommend it. Cheap too!!

I have bought repti bark and it does have little bugs not mites, it's from the moisture in the bag.
