What's behind the white stripe ? Anything ?.

Is it just somthing that some fattie's have ?just somthing mother nature gives some fatails.Did it originate from a localy pacific fattail race ?.Are they in nature two fattail sub'spieces ? but aren't reconnized in the hobby ?.

i dunno but i believe you can find striped ones in the wild and the gene is a simple recessive

I've heard that it's recessive, but I'm still not 100% sold on that idea. I'm just not sure how it could ever be proven considering that it is so prevalent in wild populations. All I know (from my own few breedings) is that stripe x stripe has so far yielded 100% stripes.

The stripe may brake the shape of the body up making the stripes harder for predators to see which is how a recessive trait like that could be more common in the wild then 1:4.

Yes, many WC animals come in with the stripe.

Dominant maybe possible ? i have a white stripe female that came from a white stripe male and a normal female ? mum may have been het but the stripe could also be dominant ??.

i dont think it is dominant, from what i remember it is a recessive trait. damn gonna have to call kelli to find out lol

Will the offsprings be double het amel and stripe?

From what being said yes :main_thumbsup: but bare in mind your amel female may well be het white striped already with out you knowing it or do you know her breeding history ?.

I'm going to the hamm show in Germany in September. Alot of US-breders are at the show so...maybe a little double het. fattail can hitchhike?
