I love my Nature Spirits but also love my home made ones. It all depends on how many clutches you plan on incubating at one time and how much you are willing to spend.

+1 to Nature Spirits, loving it myself. I was using 2 fridge type incubators before, then one died unexpectedly and I lost a bunch of eggs. So I hurried up and bought another fridge incubator, then did some calculation... 3 fridge style incubators = 1 nature spirits.

Moral of the story is I probably should've bought nature spirits first, as it's quiet, runs at steady temperature, much more room, and I've heard nothing but good feedback from breeders that use it. Now that I'm using it, I see how good it is and it's well worth the money.

The thing about this hobby/business is that your eggs are everything. If your incubation goes bad, you've got no good eggs, and therefore no hatchlings. Losing a batch of eggs during the middle of the season when you are expecting good results from specific pairings really suck.

Like suggested above, it really depends on how many eggs you are expecting. If you are needing the fridge style incubators, you probably are incubating quite a bit of eggs. If you are at that level, I would highly recommend going with nature spirits sooner than later. Like I said, replacing those incubators get expensive. 3 fridge style incubators = 1 nature spirits.

I have a few incubators. hovabator and little giants are wonderful and dependible. not to mention inexpensive. I have also built a few, Although you could use a fridge to build one, i prfuree a broken wine cooler or beverage cooler. you can get them on craigslist all the time. a little heat tape and a thermostat. after you've removed the original guts... and presto. I just cant see paying 120 for a "reptile only" incubator. thats me though.
