Most will say the average is 88f-92f. If the temp goes a bit over and the gecko gets too warm it will move away and cool off. My 3 leos do great until the temp gets to 94f and above, then they will wake up and move

I generally accept anything over 95 F as too hot. IMO the ideal temperature on the warm side should be around 89-93F. I have heard of cases where leos were kept around 98F and showed no signs of illness, heat problems, ect. but I have a tendency to edge on the 'better safe than sorry' side of things :main_laugh:

As to whether or not they will move to the cool side... it all depends on the gecko. I believe most leos will move when they feel too warm... however we have one that refused to leave it's hide even when the temperature reached 100F (It was a brief heatwave that was quickly resolved thankfully).

no i havnt got a thermostat, do you think i should buy one?

he came out of the warm hide for about 30 seconds, he had a walk around an just went back in.

when it starts gettin to night time i turn the lamp off as i read that the temperature can drop to 70f at night in natural habitat an that is about my room temperature which is perfect :)

I wouldn't have my geckos without a thermostat. that's my opinion. They are just that important

I agree.
If you have any animal that requires temp control, you should have one.
