i recently bought a young blizzard. he goes nuts when i pull off his/her screen to feed or clean its tank. i am afraid to grab it cause im afraid he/she might let its tail loose. im ok with it maybe taking a little nip at my hand but i want his/her tail to stay intact. i bought it in april and it was very small (im assuming it hatched a month or two before). it eats VERY well. 4-6 mealworms and 1-2 waxworms. and i also leave about 4 mealworms in a dish just in case. it has almost doubled in size since i got it.

anyhow my question is....is it still too soon to try and handle the little guy? i understand that i shouldnt over do it but i want it to start getting used to me.

Yeah, could you post some pics of him/her with something next to it for size judgement so that we can tell you if she/he is large enough to be handled.

Blizzards are insane lol, cant think of any other way to put it. My male is fine one time and the next he acts like a insane freak show lol. Dont ask me why but blizzards are known for their wierd dispositions. Anyways the best way to handle him is in the cage. I would simply start by just placing your hand in the cage for like 15 mins a day for awhile intill he gets use to your hand. Then to handle, have your one hand flat on the floor of the tank and gently use your other hand to coax the leo into your flat hand, just hold it in the cage so if it jumps it wont escape or hurt itself. Once you have done that and confident the leo is okay, then you can attempt handling out of the cage, I would still hold it over the cage or right next to it. Good luck :)
