Okay we all know that a Raptor can loose a part of it`s red.
I havea baby that has snake eyes:

The other eye is normal or early normal^^
If it looses it´s eyes it is still a Raptor right? Proven by the babyeyeshot.
Not that I wanted to sale her she is too awsome to let go but I wanted to ask this for my knowledge :)

I would say yes geneticly it is. I have proven out eclipses who's eyes faded and watched raptors go to aptors at 30 grams only to prove out as raptors.

ok first I say congrats on a really nice gecko!!!

Just for the sake of argument I'll vote no:) I would argue that a trait like eye color thats not visible at breeding size is only "on the verge" of being manifest and stabilized in a line. I can't imagine someone offering a RAPTOR to me and then sending me one that shows no red. I would not be satisfied with the argument "well it's not now but it was" .

The only parallel I can think of is a nice lavender juvie that loses the lavender coloration. It's a nice normal that can be used for selective breeding but not a lavender....

Food for thought

Yes it is still a Snake Eye, if it fades. If for aesthetic purposes, someone might want to buy one that`s eyes did not fade.(?) If for breeding, it would still be a "Raptor" genetically, and produce the same amount of "Raptors" or Eclipse`

Of course a gecko that had it`s eyes faded would likely be sold as such. So no need to worry about that part IMO. Your opinion may still be different, and that is OK.:main_thumbsup: Just check with the breeder, in that case. It is fairly well known that some Eclipse` or Raptors eyes fade, so I do not think anyone will be pulling the wool over anyone`s eyes(Raptor pun intended), and not let them know about it before buying. I would even venture to guess, one like that might be sold at a lower price, also. :)
