When it's not your fault, but by law it is

So I was right on time coming back to work, when now I'm 45 minutes late. It took 5 cops to decide that it was my fault and to give me a ticket for improper left turn and failure to yield. Dangit I sat there at a full stop for 2 minutes when she came flying by no brakes and ran right into me.

Here's the story.

Car across from me turning right, I'm trying to turn left. I couldn't turn, and neither could she, as cars on the lanes beside us were blocking. Two big white trucks line up behind her. I wait and wait and when traffic isn't coming anymore, and I haven't seen anyone driving towards me from behind the trucks which is where I was watching since they were blocking the view. I turn left. Teeny BMW is coming right at me.

My choices:
1. stop and she slams into the front of my car
2. push gas and either make it or she hits the back

I opted for choice 2. She hit the back. No breaks, no nothing on her part.

She lost the front bumper, I have minor damage. The right side of my face hurts and ear canal is sore. My boss and the lady covering for me while I was on lunch, said my right eye is swollen a little. I didn't hit anything when she hit me. *shrugs*

Back at work, shook up, pissed off. It's a lovely day in the neighborhood.

Oh! And my phone died as I was calling work to tell them I'd be late back. Managed to call the cops, my dad, text my bf bc he wanted to know where I was, and then it died. My dad sent my mom, so I used her phone when she got there to call work, who told my bf where I was.

It's time for a nap... That's for sure.

And, people wonder why I hate driving... I realize it's my fault. I guess I should have sat there for 10 more minutes, hoping the car would have turned right so the trucks would have gone, but I thought watching behind the trucks was going to be enough. Yea.. Nope... So now, I have basically two tickets; I'm not going to court bc then I'd have court fees, so to save money. I'm just sending in a check.

She got away with nothing but a missing bumper. I'm screwed all the way around with insurance and tickets. If she had just slowed down when she saw me, she wouldn't have hit me, and it would have just been a close call. I know she saw me.

My boyfriend said that she was probably hoping she'd hit me so that she could collect insurance.

At least she wasn't hurt... I just wish she's slowed down when she saw me.

In all reality, I should have waited longer. But, at the same time, if she'd slowed down, she wouldn't have hit me.

I'm glad I didn't by the 09 Highlander brand new when I was going to. I'd be so upset and not at work right now bc I would be so upset. My boyfriend joked and told my mom we were just going to use the mustang as a demolition derby car till I got a new one. She laughed.

My mom called about the police report. It said she was just going 30. There's no way, and even if she was only going 30, then why didn't she apply the brakes? She should be at some fault. Ok I turned and didn't see her till last second, but why didn't she try to stop or slow down?

I do remember looking at her right before she hit me and she hadn't applied brakes at that point. No brake lights came on.

If she was behind you, how would you have seen the brake lights, or did I completely miss something about how she hit you? All you said was she hit the back.

I was run in to by a total moron once. I was parked at a red light on a rainy day at a crowded intersection. I saw him coming up behind me but saw he was slowing down just by the speed he was going from when he cam around the corner and to the rate of movement he was going shortly before he was behind me. I went to fiddling with the A/C and all of a sudden I felt my head bang back and forth. Sure enough this guy hits me going 15 mph and man that messed my back and neck up in a way I'd never felt. Luckily it only took 3 months of therapy and now (fingers crossed) I don't have any issues. I was lucky I had full coverage as this guy wasn't even insured himself and was driving a vehicle which didnt belong to him and THAT person wasn't insured either. Freaking wonderful day that was :(
