Ok, when I have beetles I'll let mine try one each to see if they like them... if not I don't lose anything, I just feel bad about wasting feeder animals. How do yu usually cull excess beetles?

I haven't tried feeding beetles to leos. Trying to get away from cricket eaters, I gave my spider a superworm. She didn't eat it, it pupated and beetled in her cage. She ate the beetle. My skink apparently loves them :) Since I don't plan to keep a colony of mealies, the beetles and half the hatching box will be given to a friend this weekend. They run the rescue for JaxHerp Society. Her sugarglider will be thrilled with a constant supply of fresh worms. Maybe someone you know close by may need some if you have excess.

It appears to take about 3mos to have feeding size mealies from the time you get them.

Yes, my science teacher has a tarantula that she uh... well lets just say she had me run to the store to pick up crickets for it the first week of school since she forgot to get them since May, and there's no water in the cage. So maybe having a free and fairly reliable supply will encourage her to feed it more...
