When you say you keep your hot spot at "95-97"

Does that mean you are setting your termostat at that temp? I set mine for 92 but I figure that in the warm hide, it must be warmer. My probe is right next to the warm hide over the UTH. I wonder if I should turn it up to 93-95?

I would check the temperature all over the tank, make the hottest spot no more than 95-97. The hottest spot is most likely inside the warm hide.

I have a probe thermometer that sits on the floor inside the hide and i go by that temp as my hot spot temp

I have in infrared gun too. It never reads what the thermostat says. I also have a $15 digital thermometer, and it reads different too. That doesn't help things, IMO. As long as none of them are over 100 or under 80, I guess it'll be ok.

Kind of how I feel about it. My temp guns give a different reading from the temp probe and thermostat prob . . . .

so I have my warm hide sitting around 92-94 during the day and I think it dropped to 89 this morning around 7AM... is that okay? or should I make it a bit hotter.... also in my hide on the cool side its about 78
