i've heard that, too. but i've also heard 1-2 months. but i've also heard you can begin to put your hand in there right away for him to begin getting used to you. that's what i did. i also started holding her pretty much right away. as long as you're not stressing him out too much, i'd say it's okay. but then again, i'm by no means an expert. but i do think it's okay to at least start putting your hand in.

let it settle in and start eating. Once it's eating then start interacting with it alittle bit at a time until it is familiar with you.

just don't stress it too much and handle it once a day for a few minutes for the first week or so. If it doesn't stop eating or act reclusive, you will be fine.

Do be careful when handling the babies, they get nervous very easy and will jump out of your hand when you least expect it.

Make sure he sees your hand then try to slide your hand under his body then lift. Then you can support him with the other hand. He *shouldnt* try to jump off, so simply holding an open hand with him on it should be fine, and if he tries to walk just put your off-hand in front of him.

take it out a few minutes a day and eventually it'll warm up to you. Be gentle and don't restain it too much. The best place to hold it would be while sitting on the floor, the couch or your bed, so if it decides to bail it doesn't fall too far.

may most skittish hatchlings I pick up like any other gecko. I come in from the frnt and grab it by it's sides gentky and slide my fingers ubder it. Roll your hand over and it's now sitting on your fingers or in your hand.

reptiles are not tooth paste, so don't squeeze them and you'll be fine.

The #1 rule is "Be Gentle." Don't make any sudden movements to scare them and be aware that the babies are jittery.

If he's getting really scared, I'd say stop handling him for today and handle him a little again tomorrow. Don't want to stress him out too much.

When I get a new baby, I usually don't handle them for the first week but instead associate my face/hands with food. I'll drop mealies into the dish one by one just so they can see. A wiggly cricket offered by fingertips rarely gets ignored for long. By the time I'm ready to handle them, my hand is already a welcome sight because it just might be bringing food.

I have to handle my 3 leos just about every day when I clean and spray their moist hide.
They are almost always in the moist hide when I go to freshen it, and I have to gently scoop them up with one hand and spray with the other.
They are so used to it, I dont think it bothers them at all.

What I did was start by leaving my hand in there on the 3rd day after I got my leo(when he started eating), and after 1 or 2 days of doing that he started walking up to it, then leaving. About a week after I got him he started licking my hand, and about 2 days after that he just walked on it and fell asleep. What I also tried was putting a mealie on my hand to make him walk onto it and realizing he wont die if he touches it.

dont pick it up anymore for a lil while unless you have to. What i did when got mine i just throw in some crickets and when he starts eating i slowly stick my hand into the tank and hold it as faraway from him butstill inside the tank after the 3rd day i would place my hand flat in front of him to get him to crawl over it i did that a couple days then i started to pick him up like 3 inches off the tank floor incase he jumps off. i started that maybe 10 days ago and he will now lay on my hand with no problem its just the part of putting my fingers under his belly to pick him up that he doesnt like
