The heat mat in a wood viv?? I am getting 2 female leo's sometime before Christmas & putting them into a wooden viv, so where do i put it or what do i put it under, would a piece of slate be ok??

u put it inside the viv with a good layer of which ever sub u use makeing sure your gex cannot get to it

maybe a layer of Tiles

upper and Lower......Just a thought!

Under tank heaters are designed have airflow underneath them so it could be a fire hazard to have it sandwiched between 2 surfaces. Do you have a picture of your vivarium?

For a wood floor you need to mount the UTH on top (inside).

You can put a thin line of silicone cement all the way
around the edge of the mat and glue it down. That way,
stuff like crickets and mealies cant get under it.

Just put a thin substrate directly on top of the mat, and
put your thermostat prob on top of that.

I should have said, in case you have a mat that doesnt have a "sticky" side, like the Ultratherm.

I dont like the self stick mats, they are very difficult to remove if you ever want too. It's a gimmic to get folks to buy another mat.
