Im using a light, in a wooden tank. Would it be advised to use an UTH aswell? And if so, where would i place it seen as the tank is wood? I have one, from my old glass tank, but the rep shops i go to dont use them in wooden tanks. I have a rock in direct light of the basking spot that will conduct alot of heat.
Im using paper towels as substrate, there to young for sand.
Sand is really not the best substrate even for adults. Paper towels, paper, or tile are all safer, more hygienic choices. Leos really need an under tank heater as apposed to just overhead heat from a light. Do you have any pictures of the enclosure? I'm not exactly sure what you mean by wooden tank.
I think I get what you mean as far as a wood tank. Could you maybe get a piece of acrylic and use it as a "false bottom" and drill a hole for the cord to come out of the side? Cause yeah a UTH is better and with a basking lamp there hides wont be the hottest point so in the hide wouldn't be the best.
